On Monday, the Brazilian subsidiary of Chinese ride-hailing company Didi Global filed a lawsuit against its Chinese competitor Keeta in a court in S?o Paulo, accusing it of trademark infringement and unfair competition.
Keeta is an international food delivery brand owned by Meituan. It was officially launched in Hong Kong in May 2023 and announced its entry into the Brazilian market in May 2025.
Several days prior to this lawsuit, Keeta filed a lawsuit against Didi's Brazilian subsidiary 99 in Brazil, accusing its food delivery app 99Food of attempting to restrict restaurants from partnering with more than two food delivery platforms.
In Monday's lawsuit, 99 accused Keeta of using colors, patterns, and fonts similar to those of the 99 platform to “boost its commercial operations” in the Brazilian market.
The complaint states, “Numerous visual similarities... lead to undue confusion among consumers, and the defendant is attempting to ‘free-ride’ on 99's success,” and requests the court to order Keeta to change its logo.
In a statement to Reuters, Keeta stated that its logo and colors have been associated with Meituan for over 14 years, and Keeta has been using them for over three years.
The 99 platform declined to comment on the matter.
