The Industrial Design Act in Canada provides protection for original industrial designs, covering both three-dimensional features of shape and configuration, as well as two-dimensional features such as pattern and ornament applied to a finished article.This consolidation is current to February 20, 2024. The last amendments came into force on November 5, 2018. Any amendments that were not in force as of February 20, 2024 are set out at the end of this document under the heading “Amendments Not in Force”.
