Recently, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Shenzhen Transsion Holdings Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Transsion) faces new patent infringement litigation in India. South Korea's LG Electronics filed a lawsuit with the Delhi High Court in India, accusing Transsion of infringing upon five of its wireless communication patents. The court has accepted the case and scheduled subsequent hearings.
On November 1, 2025, LG Electronics formally filed the lawsuit with the Delhi High Court. The court held its first hearing on November 4, 2025, and scheduled the next hearing for February 3, 2026, to consider an application for interim measures. In its complaint, LG Electronics stated that the technology Transsion uses in its wireless communication devices falls within the scope of claims covered by five Indian patents owned by LG.
This lawsuit further extends Transsion's growing list of global patent disputes. Previously, Transsion faced litigation from companies including Ericsson and InterDigital in multiple jurisdictions over standard essential patents (SEPs). Concurrently, Transsion reached settlements or agreements in 2025 with rights holders such as Qualcomm, Philips, Nokia, Huawei, and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) regarding relevant patent licenses.
