On September 18, 2026, the Seventh Civil Division of the Munich Regional Court in Germany heard a series of patent infringement cases filed by Yangtze Memory against Micron and issued rulings on two of them. As a result, Yangtze Memory secured two injunctions against Micron in Germany. This ruling marks the latest development in Europe regarding the parties’ long-standing global 3D NAND patent dispute.

The rulings involved two German patents held by Yangtze Memory Technologies, corresponding to two separate lawsuits. Specifically, patent DE202020006166U1 (Case No. 7 O 12615/25) covers technology for the stepped structure of 3D memory devices; Patent DE202021004551U1 (Case No. 7 O 12614/25) relates to a barrier layer technology for word line contacts in 3D NAND memory.

On the same day, the Munich Regional Court simultaneously began hearing three additional lawsuits filed by Yangtze Memory against Micron. Two of the cases relate to patents DE202018007011U1 and DE202022003278U1, respectively, while the remaining case centers on European Patent EP3931868. The court did not issue a substantive ruling on these three cases but decided to postpone the hearings; proceedings will resume at a later date.
